avril lavigne wrote this song for her grandfather, who passed away while she was on her first tour in europe. the day he died she was playing in dublin.
„i just wanna say, the show tonight goes out to my granpa who passed away today“,
she said and then sang her song „tomorrow“, crying.
i went to an avril concert in dusseldorf, september 27 2004, her 20th birthday.
she doesn’t play „slipped away“ live very often, but this time she did.
i’ve never experienced anything like this.
the audience went silent as she starting playing the piano.
no one was singing but avril.
goosebumps.
people were frozen, some girls were crying, silently.
it was just avril and the piano.
after the song she got the biggest applause ever –
and if we weren’t already standing there would have been
standing ovations!
